In times of war and chaos it’s important to remember that just off camera, away from the riots and tear gas, shootings and explosions, there are real people living real lives, as normal as possible. After all, Iranians are not fighting for freedom or justice. All they want is normalcy.
Here’s a nice photoblog of daily life in Iran. It makes for a pleasant break between news bulletins.

Wall Street Journal supports Honduran coup
Written by pelonpelon on June 29th, 2009That the WSJ supports the coup tells you something about how money and military rule are complementary.
They explain that it really wasn’t a coup, that congress rightfully ordered the military to arrest the president and if that should turn out to be true I will have to reconsider my view. But for now, most respected leaders and governments including the UN and OAS have denounced the coup and I defer to them.
Zelaya might be a bad guy but a successful coup will bring an official end to democracy in Honduras and maybe the region. Bush/Cheney were elected twice and no one considered dismantling the government.
